Westshield's History
Founded in 1977 as a little-known regional provider of civil engineering and construction services Westshield has grown over 40 years to become one of the most respected businesses in our field, delivering civil engineering solutions to the Utility industry, Local Authorities and Private & Public sector clients right across the UK.
2017
Company restructure with the appointment of new senior management, through this the business renews its interest in the water and wastewater sector and the reinforced concrete frame market.
2016
A £2m investment in plant machinery and commercial vehicles.
2010
2000-2008
The early 2000’s saw Westshield take on some challenging projects, we completed our largest single contract award ‘The Wyre Estuary UID’ for United Utilities, whilst also undertaking Building and Developments and minor construction frameworks. As well as this Westshield had a healthy order book with some of the UK’s leading house builders such as Bryant Homes (now Taylor Wimpy) and Barratt Homes.
1995
First £1m contract for the new Morrisons development at Bredbury, providing infrastructure and groundworks for the new superstore in Stockport, Manchester.
1990’s
Westshield had a strong presence within a number of the local authorities, undertaking maintenance works up and down the North West region, particularly within it’s surfacing division.
1980’s
Completing Highway maintenance and annual cover maintenance contracts, Westshield established a reputation for high-quality construction and engineering solutions across several sectors. This firmly placed Westshield as a major player in the North West area.
1970
Westshield was formed in 1977 based in the North West of England. The “West” referring to the West of Ireland, the home of Austin Waldron Snr. founder of Westshield.
