advance JV was appointed by United Utilities on the Windermere WwTW. Tasked with the design and build to minimize future plant discharges of raw sewage into to Lake Windermere,

Westshield were appointed by advance JV to carry out the following:

The Technical Aspect:

Phase One: 
  • 7m diameter reinforced concrete sludge tank base
  • 5m x 5m x 5m deep reinforced concrete distribution chamber with internal separating weir walls and associated pipework
Phase Two: 
  • Reinforced concrete balance tank, 45m x 18m x 5m deep with an internal sump of 10.5 x 6.5m x 3m deep sump 
  • Construction of the tank involved working around complex temporary works supports, and the use of single sided formwork systems
Phase Three: 
  • Reinforced concrete structures which included the construction of two number humus tank bases, humus tank distribution chamber, combined return wet well pumping station, trickling filters and new reinforced concrete tertiary feed pumping station.
